Insecticide & Drug targets- BTI has been the leader in the study of mechanism of action of cry proteins. BTI has developed unique approaches for target identification and screening of insecticidal compounds. BTI also has identified potential receptors for Bt insecticidal proteins.Currently, our Research team focuses on studying mechanism of action of cry4b protein.
Bt-based Biopesticides - BTI has three new strains of Bacillus thuringiensis, which can be used to control a variety of pest insects. One of the strains kills a wide range of pests in three orders of insects: Lepidoptera (moths), Coleoptera (beetles) and Diptera (mosquitoes and black flies) as well as various nematodes. A second strain is highly efficient against three major mosquito vectors, Culex pipiens, Aedes aegypti and Anopheles gambiae.The third strain, isolated in Texas, kills the red imported fire ant.
